For over 140 years, the Crown Hotel has been a pillar of the Lutwyche community, offering a welcoming space for locals and visitors alike. Built in 1881 by publican Charles Stott and designed by renowned architect George Wilson, the hotel has stood proudly along Lutwyche Road, serving as both a social hub and a historic landmark.
Before the Crown Hotel was built, the site was reputedly a Cobb & Co staging post, catering to travelers moving through Brisbane’s northern corridor. The land itself dates back to 1859, originally granted to Sarah Sophia Bartley, wife of the eccentric Brisbane entrepreneur Nehemiah Bartley.
